Inspired by the Gospel of Luke 1:39-45, this painting depicts Mary traveling toward Elizabeth in the hill country of Jerusalem. Elizabeth is pregnant with St. John the Baptist, although in her "sunset years" and Mary comes, bringing the light of dawn and carrying the ark of the New Covenant.
